About Harpreet Deol
My journey in fashion began in 2016, when curiosity led me to experiment with sewing using my own and my mother’s old clothes — which, at the time, got me in trouble for “ruining” them. But when she later admitted they looked good, I knew I had found something meaningful. Those early experiments sparked my love for design, texture, and transformation. Soon after, I began taking on tailoring projects for friends and family, refining my skills and developing a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and detail.
In 2021, I decided to formally pursue fashion design by enrolling at City College of San Francisco (CCSF), where I received strong technical training and mentorship. With their support, I earned a Presidential Scholarship to study at the Academy of Art University, where I am now completing my degree.
I’m Harpreet Deol, a fashion designer passionate about transforming cultural memory into contemporary couture. My work explores the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and surface design, with a focus on upcycled textiles, hand embellishment, and experimental fabric manipulation.
Each collection I create is rooted in storytelling — merging traditional South Asian craftsmanship with modern silhouettes and techniques. From draped, conch-inspired forms to distressed luxury surfaces, my design approach balances artistic emotion with technical precision.
Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CLO3D, I bring ideas to life through both digital and physical processes, emphasizing craftsmanship, detail, and meaning in every stitch. My goal is to redefine modern couture by celebrating sustainability and cultural continuity in design — garments that not only adorn the body but carry forward the stories that shape us.
